On charges of training for terrorist activities, including international terrorism, and aggravated criminal advocacy for terrorist purposes, the L’Aquila Digos (Special Operations Unit) arrested a 26-year-old Italian citizen who appears to have been planning terrorist actions, inspired by Theodore Kaczynski, the anarchist known as the “Unabomber.”

At the residence in Rome where he was arrested, DIGOS agents seized various types of blades, camouflage fatigues, and balaclavas—items similar to those he wore in social media videos in which he incited a struggle against the current system.
According to the judge who ordered his incarceration, the 26-year-old from Teramo posed a risk of repeating his actions, or even committing more serious offenses. He is accused of plotting terrorist acts inspired by Theodore Kaczynski—the anarchist known as the “Unabomber.”
His actions were described as “justified,” as evidenced by the hashtag he employed: #TedKaczynskiDidNothingWrong.
The “American Unabomber”—the perpetrator of terrorist acts carried out by sending explosive packages through the mail—whose deeds, in fact, were characterized as “justified” through the use of the hashtag #TedKaczynskiDidNothingWrong.
Based on the findings of the investigation conducted by the L’Aquila Public Prosecutor’s Office and the police, the 26-year-old “eco-terrorist” used his online accounts to provide instructions for the DIY construction of firearms and explosives.
In his most recent video, he allegedly even identified specific targets to be struck—namely, public utilities and data centers, with a particular focus on American asset management and investment firms.
His ultimate objective was a return to a pre-industrial society.

The suspect’s actions were allegedly inspired by Theodore Kaczynski, the anarchist primitivist known as the Unabomber, who incited rebellion and called for joining the revolution to destroy the current technological and democratic system.
The investigation by Italy‘s Anti-Terrorism District Attorney’s Office of L’Aquila found that the arrested man was a member of the primitivist and accelerationist anarchist movement and provided instructions via computer and telematics on how to prepare weapons and ammunition at home.

He paired the posts with images of armed men and calls to violence, while urging followers to attack critical infrastructure — driven by an anarchist, anti-technology ideology seeking a return to a primitive society. He praised the Unabomber as a model to emulate.
The arrest was carried out by the L’Aquila DIGOS with assistance from the Abruzzo Cybersecurity Operations Center, the Service for Countering Extremism and Domestic Terrorism, and the Postal Police and Cybersecurity Service.
