What Would Elves Drive?

In late August, the tires of six SUVs were slashed in Richmond, Virginia, less than 48 hours after a similar incident left 13 SUVs vandalized just miles away.

In Houston, Texas, 20 SUVs were targeted at a car dealership on September 1. Approximately $60,000 in damages was caused when windows were shot out with a pellet gun, paint was scratched and tires slashed. The sales manager believes the attack to be the work of radical environmentalists, saying, “They didn’t hit anything but the big SUVs.”

On September 5, 12 SUVs at a Land Rover dealership in Sante Fe, New Mexico, were spray-painted with the words “Gluttony,” “Excess” and the other seven deadly sins. Expanding foam was sprayed into the tailpipes, and “Hayduke Lives!” was also found painted on the SUVs. The action caused thousands of dollars in damage.

In New Zealand on September 22, the Earth Liberation Front slashed the tires of multiple SUVs at a Wellington car dealership, promising more actions in the future.
