Introduction
The reason that has encouraged us to carry out this work is the importance of reviewing and questioning the patterns of thought, trends... of the movements that call themselves “revolutionary”, “social”, “alternative”... Critically assuming a pre-established dynamic can mean that we get stuck in errors that, instead of leading us to revolutionize the current system, help to maintain it. Reviewing can allow us to become aware of mistakes and correct them, which is essential if we really want to change the current state of affairs.
Our intention is to point out criticisms that stimulate reflection and initiate the real debate, that is, the one that goes to the bottom of the issues, without fear that its conclusions tell us that perhaps we have to change course completely because the current one does not make sense. This debate, which is open and must continue to do so, aims to eliminate confusion and errors and to find correct bases for the analysis of problems and for the approach of practices in dealing with them.
To begin with, we have to try to know what the “Left” is. In general, “Left” is understood as a diversity of political and social currents characterized by varying degrees of theoretical and practical confrontation and opposition to the established power; as well as the social, political, cultural and economic models that these currents are committed to. As a consequence, the proposed changes, the criticisms,... They reach different levels according to the groups and organizations that subscribe to this label and, therefore, their tendencies and approaches even become centric: communists, progressives, democrats, reformists, revolutionaries, conservatives, nationalists, autonomists, certain “anarchist” sectors... These contradictions and this ambiguity make it impossible to define or know what the ‘Left’ really is, and for this reason we dare to say that the very idea of “Left” is a myth, that is, a collective imaginary construction without support in Reality. But it is a myth that has had and is having a great influence on the establishment and transmission of a series of schemes of thought and action that, because they are common to that heterogeneous set of groups and organizations we will call leftism. It is precisely this “leftism” that we want to question and bring up for debate in this small work. To do this, we will start from the three most basic elements of thought and practice of leftism: the Relativls, Irrationalism, and Beduccioni. From ““tos tres a tu turno a’ derivan otros” some of which we will also comment on although more briefly. We also recognize some of these approaches outside of those groups calling themselves “Left”, but in this paper we will analyze their influence on them exclusively.
1. ROATIYISM
When we speak of relativism we refer to that approach that defends that there is no truth, nor absolute truth, even that there is no Reality or that there are “many”.
If the Truth does not exist, it is not possible to affirm that something is wrong, so in theory, this would mean a rejection of any principle, value or ideology and to establish a stable point from which to know and judge Reality, because according to this approach “todo e relatiyo”. And we say “in theory” because in the practice of “everything is relative” they are communists, or feminists, or anti-racists, or denounce this or that injustice... The contradiction of their “relativist” position is evident: if they see everything as relative, if there is nothing good or mab they would not be in a position to denounce or claim anything. The war is clear, radioactive contamination, slavery, etc. the starvation of millions of people in impoverished countries, sexism, sexual abuse, racism, etc., to give just a few examples related to leftist issues, are they absolutely wrong or are they “relative” Anyone with a minimum of common sense must recognize that they are wrong. If so, it can be said that there are truths like pianos and that whoever says that these things are wrong is right, (defends and knows the Truth). This contradiction disqualifies relativism in itself and makes us see that it is false. But then, where is the point of defending that there is no Truth and that “everything is relative”? To try to find an answer to this question, we are going to review and analyze other typical relativistic schemas.
When someone affirms something firmly, sometimes he has to put up with qualifiers such as: “dogmatic-”,“immobile!sta”, “autor!tari-”...; and we say ‘sometimes’ because it is not always, and there we have a key to discover what is hidden behind that supposed relativism. Thus, if we affirm with great emphatic and emphatic that “raping a woman is wrong” no one seems to detect a dogmatic or authoritarian position, why then that same syntactic scheme: “’♦.. is wrong/right”, provokes such a shower of accusations on other occasions? We can think of only one explanation: relativistic discourse is a self-defense mechanism of one’s own schemas against someone who raises an idea
that contradicts these schemes with their argument; it is a way of preventing criticism and debate. Therefore, the defenders of this “relativism” either really believe it but are wrong, or they hide a real dogmatism and immobility through the false accusation of Inaovillistas and dogmatists to those who only propose an idea (right or wrong). In this way, instead of attacking that idea contrary to theirs with arguments, they do it with dirty tricks (relativism) and with insults (■authoritarian-’,’.) impeding the process of debate.
Another typical schema of relativism is to say that “all opinions are respectable.” This is also false, because 61 we are dealing with contradictory Ideas, they cannot all be assumed at the same time; We will always have to decide which of them is the right one and once we have enough reasons to know, the right one will defend itself against the others, obviously. Therefore, there will be ideas and attitudes based on them that, because they are contradictory to the true ones, that is, because they are erroneous, should not be respected, but harshly criticized and eliminated through debate, although, of course, always respecting the people who defend them. It is necessary to differentiate between the idea or attitude expressed and the person who expresses it. The belief that all Ideas and practices must be respected is used, as in the previous case, either when there is no clear issue and, therefore, incompatibility is not seen, or when one wants to avoid a debate because it questions schemes of thought or functioning that are to be protected from criticism.
On an ideological level, relativism also has serious consequences. Since “nothing is good or bad” by itself, everything can be acceptable if “the end is good,” because paradoxically rarely is the end considered relative by relativists.
In view of all this, we want to affirm that having a conviction of what is right and/or what is wrong, is not only necessary in a society unbridled in a mad race for development and exploitation at all levels (Planet, animals and people), but also that having a conviction does not have to imply any type of imposition. In fact, one of our convictions is absolute respect for freedom and non-authoritarianism, which in turn means being willing to discuss and revise. And no one is convinced of anything if it is not through reflection and debate.
-
To face problems it is necessary to see them clearly as such, which is impossible from a relativistic point of view (if nothing is good or bad, how can I be sure that something is a problem?)’ Therefore, although doubt must be the basis for knowledge, must it be only the beginning; that is, the stimulus for reflection, information, criticism and debate which will lead us to understand the problem, Reality, as best as possible. Trust in one’s own reflection and in debate (as collective reflection) is the best antidote to the manipulation that involves cutting criticism with the easy trick of relativism.
(For more profundity on this concept, see Note 1)
2. IRRATIONAL
By “irraclonalisao” we mean the typical attitude within leftism of exalting the lack of reflection, while rejecting and even ridiculing real attempts to stimulate critical thinking and debate. So, what replaces reflection when it comes to analysing problems, making decisions, establishing strategies...? It can be:
a.- Faith.
b. The exaltation of feelings.
a. — Faith. Faith in pre-established and uncritically assumed schemes (dogmas) and protected by the “relativism” explained above. Faith takes many forms in Leftism, ranging from trust and submission to the higher levels of the hierarchy. (explicitly or implicitly assumed) of the groups, to the irrational defense of types of Domination (authoritarian and oppressive states and/or socioeconomic and cultural systems) presumably benign because they are “popular”, “proletarian”, “of the country”, “ecological”, “vegan”..., passing through the belief in an endless number of myths and schemes typical of both the System of Domination, and of each leftist sector in particular. According to this, leftism can be considered a “modern” religion with many of the attributes of any religion, based on faith:
-
Idolatry: “gods”, “heroes”, “saints”, “martyrs”, “churches”, “great men/women”. • Alive or dead, whose “sacred” images and names are “worshipped.”
-
Hierarchy: “priests” (leaders and “intellectuals”) who dictate doctrine, draw lines, and direct “rituals.”
-
Rituals: Methods of “struggle” predetermined according to written manuals (catechisms?) or unconsciously learned by imitation of the pre-existing (tradition), assumed in a generalized and uncritical way as schemes of conduct and practices to be developed.
-
Heresies: Constant appearance of factions and sects within the Leftist “movements”, based on the E and trying to camouflage some dogmas and rituals for others,
-
Missions or evangelization of infidels: In leftism there is the tone of a so-called international and sao’ concerned with propagating the “good daughter-in-law to 1-s Ignorant savages” from other lands through brigades, special envoys, observers, organizations of “human” aid “Coordinators international”.
-
Mythological cosmology: Rewriting of human and natural history adapting it to the leftist dogmas of each ‘sect’.
-
Imposition of morality: The concept of “sin” is imposed, making moral evaluations in an irrational way, based on tradition and dogma and not on the rational analysis of the direct or indirect consequences of the acts of people or groups.
-
Penance: 1-s “sinners” who do not comply with the pre-established schemes are punished by isolating them socially, defaming them and even attacking them.
-
Existence of the devil: Evil is incarnated in those who are considered responsible for the problems: capitalists, men, humans, soldiers... according to the “sect”.
-
Sacred Texts: Complete works of “great thinkers”.
-
Mythology: Set of beliefs on which ideology, dogmas of faith, poicocultural schemes are based on each leftist ‘aecta’.
-
Existence of an afterlife: Belief in the existence of a metaphysical ‘something’ (Laws of History, ‘class consciousness’)1, “People”, “Progress”,..) which governs the destiny of the struggles and to which it is appealed through rituals.
-
Hope in salvation: Certainty that the objectives will inevitably be achieved if the rituals and sonsas dictated by 1-s^priests/priestesses are fulfilled and followed”
-
Communion: Feelings of fellowship and belonging to a “spiritual” community through participation in rituals and sharing of belief in “religious” doctrine.
-
‘Good intention’ If there is one thing that characterizes leftists and other grassroots believers, it is their Naivety, their blind faith in “doing good” without looking at whom, or how, or what, or if what they do is really good.
-
Holy War: “Revolutionary” Violence.
-
Spiritual consolation: Self-satisfaction and satisfaction of belonging to “something higher” than oneself and participating in rituals and beliefs.
-
Taboos: Topics whose discussion is avoided or, at least, their real question is avoided in clear and absolute terms.
We will not go into this work one by one the different leftist sectors and their respective doctrines and practices “religious”, but what has been cited so far are some general characteristics of the irrational Leftist master in terms of faith, that is, the absence of criticism and the unreflective assumption of ideas, methods, attitudes and evaluations, which is completely contrary to the dictates of Reason. Reason and faith are enemies and cancel each other out.
b.- The exaltation of feelings. Feelings are established as the basis of analysis and decisions and are presented as a guide to behavior in opposition to a System that is often erroneously assumed to be “rational”. The fact that the System has repressed at certain times some manifestations of certain feelings does not mean that it is rational. In fact, it is not a problem for him to accept those manifestations that were initially rejected; the System is hedonistic, it traps people for pleasure and fosters many feelings (nationalists, revenge...) that suit it because these are good tools for manipulation and by promoting them people are better controlled.
Thus, in leftist groups in which feelings such asnmotor”, in reality what is done consciously or unconsciously is to generate an adequate environment for the perpetuation of dynamics and pre-established approaches in an uncritical way (tradition) or for the imposition of those of the most authoritarian, most prominent sectors or with the greatest power of manipulation. In this way they will be more easily assumed by that group of people whose capacity for criticism has been diminished or cornered by their subordination to feelings.
Therefore, it must be Reason that allows us to adopt the appropriate way of saying, and not feelings, whose function is not that. But what do we call Reason? By Reason we understand the ability to think, to use the data obtained by observation, information and experience, in processes of individual and collective reflection (debate) to understand as best as possible the Reality that surrounds us and the problems that concern us and to make the most appropriate decisions in the face of these problems. Therefore, Reason is something that we can and must make use of, because we are all capable of thinking and consequently, of drawing conclusions from what we observe, from our experience and from the information we seek and obtain. And Reason is something that we must make use of because assuming principles uncritically nullifies our ability to contribute things, to discover and correct errors’ “and because exalting praise in uncle lentil at the base of our functioning, in addition to leading us to make many mistakes because we have not thought things through, subjectivizes us and prevents us from seeing what is really happening, exposing us to manipulation, both by the System, and by the leftist subsystem, which take advantage of feelings (revenge, indignation, impotence, despair, fascination, fear, dreaming.••) for their own benefit. In fact, many times feelings can and usually are not spontaneous but induced by the socio-cultural environment.
Both forms of irrational i sao (faith and exaltation of feelings) are very close to each other and are intimately related. Sentimentality and faith reinforce each other. Every religion takes advantage of and is based on feelings (fascination, transcendence, fear, consolation, communion,...) and every exaltation of emotions generates myths and prejudices in the short and/or long term’
Only Reason can lead us to have our own scale of values. If we do not establish our own principles through this necessary and continuous reflection, we will enter into a crisis of values that the System can easily take advantage of, because it does have its own scale: Domination, and it will impose it on those who, due to lack of (irrational!) reflection, do not have their own. This abandonment of our individual and collective responsibility, together with the need to have a series of values that help us to develop in Reality, usually leads to the uncritical acceptance of the values that are disseminated from the structures of Donimation. In short: either we establish our own scale of values through reflection (Reason) or we will internalize someone else’s without even being aware of it.
It should be noted that the Reason referred to here does not. it is the scientific logic that the System normally sells us as an exclusive synonym for “reason”.
The “Science11 (whatever its definition) is fundamentally based on conscious logic and in many cases on a very specific logic: Mathematics’ This does not necessarily imply that its conclusions are rational, since although Reason is always logical (and intuitive), not all logic is always rational. For example, the capitalist economic system has its own logic and laws of operation and yet it is totally irrational.
What is called “Science” today (whatever it may be) always entails several serious intrinsic errors that result in the maintenance of many prejudices and per-economic, technological, socio-economic schemes that favor the development of the Domicile System.
Although we will not go into here to expose and develop the different: limitations and internal contradictions of the so-called “dencia/s” and the ambiguity of the term itself (What exactly is Science)4. Which disciplines are scientific and which are not? Why?...) That is pl< ma in the wide range of “scientific” and “philosophical” definitions of the concept “Science”, sometimes even contradictory to each other, should at least put us in a state of rational alert with a tai te to everything that is presented to us under the label of “cler typhic”.
We also want to make it clear that the fact of claiming the Raz< does not mean forgetting feelings, but placing everything in its position. The function of some feelings is found in the maintain! Balance in affective relationships at a personal level. But basing politics and ethics on feelings is a mistake, because they are activities that must be rational and reasoned, governed by intelligence. In fact, one of the fundamental errors of many ethical-political ideologies and practices has been and is the emotional one! This leads to not recognizing, from the beginning, the Reality they claim to be facing, distorting the vision and re-representation of it on the basis of subjective feelings and turning leftist “struggles” too often into mere acts of navel-gazing.” In any case, feelings should not be confused with intuitions. Both are unconscious functions of the mind and both emerge in consciousness in the form of notions, tendencies, acts... more or less subtle.
Reason is composed of both a conscious logical aspect and an intuitive and unconscious one (much more powerful than mere logic, but also much more subtle and ethereal).
Feelings and intuitions must be differentiated through conscious reflection, which makes each one occupy its place and function: some feelings, the maintenance of psychological balance and informal and intimate relationships between people and themselves^; and intuition identified, verified and supported by logic< as a source of data and a mechanism for integrating ideas into complex systems of thought, models and evaluations of Reality, etc. “(Global i ity).
Is it Reason understood in this way (intuition and logic) that must put it? to work in revolutionary ethical-political struggles, to analyze the problems and make the appropriate decisions, unless we want Power, in any of its forms, including leftism, to decide for us and to be a cork adrift that allows itself to be carried away by the tide of feelings (induced or not),
3. REDUCTIONIST
“Reductionism or “sectarianism” refers to the tendency to choose a specific problem and see it in isolation as if it were something independent of the rest of the problems and circumstances. This tendency forgets that Reality is a complex system, in which all things are interrelated and that no concrete problem can be solved without taking into account that the causes of it are always in turn another set of problems and interdependent factors. You cannot solve a particular problem without taking into account these interrelationships, without trying to solve the rest of the problems that are directly or indirectly related to it and to each other.
Those who pose problems and their solutions in a reductionist way do so — in His words — “because it is more effective.” And so it seems in the short term because isolating the problem from its causes and the circumstances that surround it, allows the development of technical “‘solutions’ that give the impression of “doing something”’. This type of “returns” at most they reach is to temporarily attenuate the consequences of the problem but never to truly solve it, with which the result is a possibilism or re-fo missino that perpetuates the problem by diverting attention from the causes to the SYMPTOMS”.
On the other hand, focusing on a specific problem as something isolated from the rest means that the negative consequences of these technical “solutions” on other problems are not seen, which due to their interaction with the whole aggravate the general situation and end up affecting again in one way or another even the problem that made us take measures (in the same way as a drug that goes against the symptoms instead of going against the the causes of the disease, based on a vision of the organism as a whole, causes secondary effects and problems in other parts, worsening the general situation and, finally, also the ailment initially treated).
The lack of globality leads us to analyses that, as they do not take into account the existing interrelations, are erroneous because they are simplistic. In fact, they tend to fall into dualistic analyses that pose a situation divided into two poles, when Reality is constituted by a con-
A huge number of different interrelated factors. Evidently, these indigos, which, by not taking this fact into account, reduce Reality to simplistic and erroneous models, cannot provide real solutions to any problem, but only help to perpetuate it by attenuating the “symptoms”. Thus, for example, it is reductionist to separate the ideal from the material. Often the analyses remain on a material plane (the economy, the state, etc.).or in an ideal or “spiritual” one (‘New Age’ Movement’..)Ignoring the real relations between idea and matter is reductionist because the two conform to each other.
Sometimes, what is done is to take a specific problem(s) as the axis(s) of all the others. But this is also wrong because it leads to subordinating a long list of issues to a specific problem (or several) and ends up believing that if this is eliminated, a substantial step will have been taken to eliminate all the others.
This is what we could call “pseudo-globality” because there is neither a single concrete problem that is the backbone of all the others (but each problem depends on and interacts with the rest), nor is there a concrete central problem that is above the others and can be eliminated in isolation (as if it itself did not depend in turn on other problems).
There is also another type of pseudo-globality that takes the Whole without the parts, that is, it remains at an abstract level of globalization that does not take into account more concrete levels. Thus, for example, we end up seeing the collective as more important than the individuals, forgetting them even when both levels are important because there can be no Tbdo without parts that integrate it, nor isolated parts that are not integrated into a Whole.
This pseudo-globality has made leftism in many cases hyper-colactivist and exclusively macroscopic, dominating or defending dominating positions over people, animals or ecosystems, since the freedom of human beings and animals and/or the natural mechanisms of self-regulation of ecosystems are placed in the background, or are completely ignored. in function of a false “global” conception that only sees “the greatness” of some aspects of Reality (Economy, certain visions of Ecology, Politics...,). In the end, “thinking big” in this way ends up being reductionist, simplistic and ridiculous.
We understand Reality as a network, in which each concrete problem would be a knot. Each knot (problem) is directly or indirectly interrelated with all the others and there is no one that can be considered as a ‘mother middle’ (or axis on which all the ‘feared’ depend) nor can ■’ consider a knot (problem) without taking into account all the others and the plot that unites them. Therefore, the only way to get as close as possible to an understanding of Reality is a global “anile”, which tries to see that “plot” with all its knots; and re this” and not a reductionist analysis, which can make us see real pollutions.
Other schemes, myths... derived from the previous
Below we will briefly comment for reflection and debate, some other schemes, myths, tendencies or dynamics “pious” are derived from the previous ones and that, peaks of leftism. Of course, they are also typical of the
1. GRARRAISM
Human beings have a natural tendency to constitute nocial groups. But often this innate inclination degenerates into the search for a reference group of variable size (from groups with a few members, to groups of millions of people or even abstract collective entities of indeterminable structure and size) that “endorses” one’s “own” opinion, or even that gives an opinion with which to identify.
The group transcends individuals and is considered a superior entity in which individualities are diluted and critical capacity is annulled. As a consequence, in this type of group there is a situation of generalized delegation!
Some specific forms of gregariousness or schemas related to 61 directly are:
-
Populism: When the reference group is the “People” or what is related to it. This presupposes the belief in the mythical idea of the “People”, which in reality is nothing more than an amorphous, heterogeneous and indefinable mass.
-
Nationalism: If the reference group is the “nation” (which like the idea of “People” is another abstract collective concept, that is, a myth).
-
Democracl a: The reference group taken is the one that defends the highest opinion! It always involves the imposition of the majority over the minority in small groups, everyday spaces, or when structuring social functioning in general.
Ideological-collective confusion: An idea is often confused with the groups, organizations or sectors that claim to represent it. The group is considered synonymous with the ideas it claims to defend. It is assumed =” and thoughtlessly that every member of this group has these ideas autetically (without the need for reflection, debate, training... and by “divine revelation”!) by the mere fact of belonging to the group and vice versa, it is believed that you can only have, defend and practice these ideas, if you are a member of that specific group.
The referential group is a kind of “i dea-group”11 (“Movement”?) of a more metaphysical than real character.
-
Adherence to symbology: Proper names, acronyms, images, flags, historical dates,... relating to the alleged reference group
they are considered sacred and untouchable and confused with the content I of the ideology and the ethical values that underlie those symbols I (if they exist). — Confusion betweenideological and sentimental relations: In these cases, the ilieological-political relationship is confused with the sentimental relationship and the sentimental relationship with the family relationship, which distorts ideology and discourse, as well as practices.
Whatever the referential group, it is often considered by leftists to be a (big) “family” or “brotherhood”, and its Qur’an members “araig-s”, “herrcan-s” and some in particular as “fathers/mothers”, explicitly or implicitly.
It is very common that at the internal level, in groups, “com- pan- man-” is confused with “amig-”, which leads to the expectation that an affinity group with which one works is also a group of “friends” and to consider as such all those who are supposed to “fight against the same enemy”.
Similarly, at the level outside the group, it is often believed that everyone “defended” is to be taken as a “friend” or “relative.” Thus, many “ecologists” call themselves “lovers” of Nature and Nature as their “Mother”, “anti-racist” as “friends” of immigrants and these as their “brothers”, many “animalists” as “friends” of animals and the animals as their friends,...
It is selfishly and irrationally assumed that every comrade or “defended” must necessarily be taken as an appendage of the “I”; it is inconceivable that there can be respect for those who are not “fawiliars” or “relatives”. It is mistakenly considered that there can be no respect if there is no relationship (affective, family, ...), and for this purpose this is created artificially.
As a consequence of this confusion, in many cases, leftists only conceive of relationships within parameters of “friendship” or “enmity”, and there is a clear parallel between this example of dualism and other similar ones such as the false division into “oprioid-s” and “oppressive r-s”, “good-s” and “bad-s”...
Another aspect that should be highlighted with respect to this confusion It’s just that Create 1,11 ““Wedte in which the Erithmle is difficult, since it is Go “teto “n «t««Iu® and a danger to the “friendship” that unites 1-s “com- pafler-”” “ “oprlold-s”, and besides, it is always more difficult to see and value ci’r’OHey. X Precisely the errors and problems of a person or group i’iiando are being subjectified by 1-s feelings towards 61/she or them”»
2. UNITY
A dynamic, closely related to gregariousness, typical of the left”More kills seek unity, forget differences in favor of “a joint Htcha against something concrete” But in this situation he always “does not impose the most authoritarian posture, because while a jnn of l”d<” his approaches so as not to interfere in the “unity”, niRhu-/’ “t>/s implements its objectives, methods,,., conscious or in^unrlc’“lieutenant.
3. PLURALITY
Leftism usually has a discourse in which plurality and diversity are exalted, and which is usually widely used when seeking support or creating aNcommon front” (it is a complementary discourse to desanidad”). In practice, this is only a claim to attract people, which tries to hide the fact that contradictory approaches could not be used in diversity, because it will always impose one (that of the most authoritarian sector) by expelling the others, simply because the incompatibility between them does not allow their coexistence. For those who do not see it and believe it, this will mean being annulled when the time comes; para. Whoever sees it but does not say it, will be the opportunity to control and establish their postulates about all who believed that “diversity within unity” was possible.
By the way, how many of the “lovers of diversity” consider the existence of ideas and attitudes such as capitalism, racism, sexism, etc., to be fascinating? If plurality is always good and a minimum of freedom, then fascism, misery, gratuitous violence, the domination of some over others, greed, the lust for power,... would be not only good, but desirable in a certain percentage of the population, to maintain “variety”. They don’t believe it!
4. PRAGMATISM
The activity (analysis, strategies, actions...) is valued according to its short-term results. This comes from and in turn reproduces rc¿netionism (which apparently gives more visible “results” in the immediate); and leads to material activism, that is, to the “craving to have to do something” whatever it is, and this in turn, to the lack of reflection and to do Unusual or harmful things that are never really questioned; to the rush to do as many things as possible in the shortest possible time, which in turn reinforces the “do something, whatever it is”, because haste washes reflection and therefore leads to valuing more the number of things done than its effectiveness and its success with respect to objectives that are not usually clear and reflected. As a result of all this lack of reflection, people tend to convince themselves that “everything is fine” and that they are doing the right thing correctly (optimism) in order to move forward with this flawed dynamic. Thoughtlessness, confusion and material and absurd activism progressively increase.
5. OPTIMISM
Leftism usually has a strong optimistic component; it is usually assumed that problems (especially internal ones) must be downplayed; but in this way, the only thing that is achieved is to prevent the possible resolution of the problem, because it is hidden under a veneer of “hope”, conformism and lack of realism (we only want to see what is comfortable, pleasant, ... and these are not precisely the errors, the problems, etc. ••). Illusion is preferred to Reality.
It is also worth remembering for reflection that the System is based on optimism: Progress, the idea of Development, historical optimism, concepts—the force of the dynamics of the System of Domination. These ideas are based on the myth that in History everything has been, is going and will get better, indisputably. It is not strange to find the same idea in leftist discourses and “ideologies”.
6. SELFISHNESS
Among leftist groups and individuals, the idea is common that “liberation” “struggles” should be waged by “oppressed” props against the “oppressors,” which fosters and maintains a selfish view of struggles (“to go his own way” without seeing or caring about anything else).
While it is true that we must be against the avant-garde and imposition, we must not forget that many oppressed people (some humans, animals and the biosphere) cannot liberate themselves, and that many others are satisfied and therefore will not be relegated.
Fighting exclusively for what is due to him does not break with the selfishness on which the System is based. Therefore, the right thing to do is that the struggle is for everything or against everything, not exclusively for what directly affects each group or individual; that is, it must be a
Struggle, what >al.
7. IDOLARIA
In the different leftist actors, authority is given to specific groups or individuals (intellectuals, leaders, etc.).

It is always, consequently, necessarily reformist and for the same reason irreformable, since the verrnv^o ex jures problems that it presents have cause# of a deep structural type and are not only conjunctural and form’, the deep psychocultural schemes on which the -of leftist ideologies and concrete practices are based, generate the “folklore” that, because it is the most showy, is usually the only thing that is generally “criticized” by leftism and from equally leftist positions in turn. It is therefore necessary to have another system of thought and action totally different from the existing one, which breaks with those profound squanaa that inevitably reproduce again and again the Domir’ol^®t ‘1 Power.
OUR CONCLUSION
The really revolutionary ánlr» ‘”^ is that that real combat””‘r “System and its central pillar: the Power activity »“vlutionary must be directed 1’ Dominates”’»‘0 (rrr 50TA2)at all levels both to be identified and eliminated and in all its forms
There are no good “powers”, not even “neut:os%Confusing “Power” with autonomy, self-government or Freedom is another serious leftist error that carries in itself the authoritarian germ. Power must disappear to make way for the autonomy and self-government of individuals and groups.
Therefore, the revolutionary struggle must be aimed at eliminating all those ideas or schemes of thought, tendencies, attitudes and practices derived from them that reproduce, maintain, allow or develop Power, in any of its forms, both in the System in general and in the most immediate environment. Part, although not all, of these schemes are those pointed out throughout this text.
The struggle to be truly revolutionary must be radical (go to the root, to the causes of the problems, not to “patch” symptoms), global (to take into account the different interrelations between the problems and the whole), rational (to be based on objective, sober, lucid and realistic analyses, rejecting myths, illusions, faith and passion) and not relativist.
It is essential that we avoid confusion, weakness of spirit and ambiguity when expressing positions, making decisions, developing and defending ideas, making analyses, etc. It is necessary to have great security and self-confidence in one’s own ideas and capacities, and this is something that each individual and revolutionary group must cultivate and maintain internally through Reason (reflection, debate, self-criticism, self-knowledge, self-discipline, order, responsibility...). The psychological aspects on which the disposition of revolutionaries to correctly carry out the struggle and rationally develop ideas depends, are “the great forgotten ones” in most of the so-called historical “revolutionary struggles” (with honorable exceptions) and yet they are fundamental for the success of the true Revolution. Today, in leftist environments (and in society in general), psychological balance and rational conviction are very scarce and often “frowned upon”.
The internal organization of revolutionary groups must be consistent with these principles^ that is:
-
horizontal and participatory (without any type of leaders, impositions or hierarchies)
-
with great commitment, coherence and self-discipline of the people who make it up (many supposedly “anti-authoritarian” groups^ end up being authoritarian, or disappearing, due to the laziness, disorder and delegation of much to their members or all of them).
-
a dynamic of decision-making and analysis of Reality based on the asanbleariBmo (horizontal and transparent meetings) in debate, reflection, self-criticism and consensus.
The “paeudo-assemblies” remotely controlled by elites, in which not all the existing information runs among all the members, the pseudo-debates that go on un-s”plensan1’ and others listen and obey; the mere denunciation, protest or defamation of^-s other-s” fl-s mal—¿Q ; decision-making by methods other than the rational and unanimous conviction of all the parties: after unlimited critical discussion... they are or end up being all in one way or another authoritarian, reformist and maintainers of the “ftatú quo”.
This whole anti-authoritarian model of struggle is impossible to carry out in large groups in which not all people know each other, nor have contact with each other. You cannot, and should not, trust that or that person whom you do not know directly and closely. Blind trust in unknown or distant groups and “composing” is faith and often entails serious disappointments, and hides serious deficiencies.
The “solutions11 This problem of communication and coordination in large groups is posed by many leftists, they are reductionist (like all so-called technological “solutions”) and aggravate the general situation both internally and externally to the group.
The opposite of massification and gregariousness: the group of “friends”, is also a serious problem (typical, of course?, of the most supposedly “radical” left) and not necessarily incompatible with the previous one.
The comrades of a small affinity group are and should be just that: companions (at least during the moments when they carry out the group’s activities). When this line is not drawn, that is, when political relations are not separated from affective ones, assemblies and collectives end up being group therapies, “after-dinner gatherings”, or even worse “things” (ghettos, sects, “sympathetic” ruling elites of obedient voluntary and unconscious “slaves,...).
The relationship between groups will follow the same non-dominating patterns, without falling into pragmatism or the myth of Unity (frontism). The relationship between different groups is for communication and the 1 If there is a high level of communication, other common activities may perhaps arise, as a consequence (never as an end sought “a priori” before coming together) and as a function of the possibilities of the groups. The latter, the relationship between groups aimed at material action, should not be as frequent as it is today and if it did occur it should be the result of long processes of debate, of an absolute consensus not only on the technical aspects of the activity, and of a calm, deep and global analysis of the usefulness and effectiveness of such activity. The aim is to communicate, exchange ideas, experiences, knowledge,... not to act “unid-s” under false “respects” for “plurality” in pursuit of a concrete and reductionist material objective.
The dynamics of the revolutionary groups must be a faithful reflection on a small scale of the model of non-dominating society that the group promulgates for the rest of humanity; The success of the revolutionary process at the external level, that is, the progressive dissemination of these values and dynamics to the rest of the population, will depend on whether the internal dynamics function correctly and is coherent with the revolutionary principles. Power cannot be destroyed if it is also carried within. If one is not able to realize this non-dominating social model within the group (and each member of it), it makes no sense to try to do it on a larger scale. It is essential to extend the anti-System revolutionary principles to the people’s needs, but that can only be done if an example is set.
These are just some general and necessary guidelines that indicate the path to be followed. These are not the only guidelines that will have to be taken into account, but their fulfillment will allow the subsequent development of the revolutionary struggle and the discovery of “new” errors and ways of confronting and overcoming them.
We hope that this text will serve those who read it for (self-)critical reflection and in fact we recommend that they criticize, debate and question it as much as they consider appropriate. The Truth is never unquestionable; in fact, it arises from questioning.
Notes
Note 1
This text has been written trying to give it the simple and understandable raffia possible. This in some cases could perhaps mean for some readers an excessive simplification and ambiguity that would generate an appearance of contradictions about some of the ideas presented.
In an attempt to anticipate these cases, we want to qualify: a) The fact that anti-relativism (based on the assumption of the existence of absolute Good and/or Evil, that is, that there are good and/or bad things) and anti-relationalism (a global and complex vision of Reality and a critique of simplism based on bipolarity. bad-s-good-n-s”) are raised and defended simultaneously in this text, may perhaps lead some readers to see in it a contradiction.
The existence of Good and/or Evil does not necessarily imply the existence of good and/or bad individuals. Things, attitudes, ideas and practices can be absolutely ridiculous and, perhaps in some cases, absolutely good, but there is an abyss between there and the same way to qualify people in the same way.
Already in the text itself we remember that ideas, attitudes, behaviors... they must be fought if they are considered wrong (bad), but that people must always be respected.
People are neither bad nor good, they are only people, influenced to a greater extent by circumstances, which can be bad or good. People should not be confused with ideas, attitudes, practices, etc... what they promote. To do this is to forget the circumstances, and that is reductionism.
While it is not false to say that there are many types of hierarchies, leaders and manipulative characters within leftist environments (including those who call themselves “anti-authoritarian”), the idea that everything is the fault of a “bad-sM who enjoy dominating others is simplistic and does not serve to try to understand and transform the nocid Reality.
The System of Domination is a very complex set of interactions in^re forgiveness, groups and the rest of Reality and works in such a way that both l-s^oprimld-s” and 1-s “opesor-s” (if anyone is able to define clearly and unambiguously in all cases who are 1-s rn-s and 1-s otr-s), they are victims of it. And at the same time, many so-called “oppressed” people actively participate in the maintenance of the System of Domination, and not precisely forced by force or necessity, but by believing in it and enjoying wildebeest “advantages”.
The Power System instills in us authoritarian and domineering habits and ideas, some of which we have presented in this text. The authoritarianism of one and the submission of other soles are the real problem: Power, the System, which is nobody and at the same time we are all of us. We are all responsible, and it is up to all of us to fight against this situation. Personifying Evil in a few (or many) is much more comfortable, but it does not solve anything, because it is not Truth, it does not correspond to the Reality of things. Unconscious domination, through uncritically assumed psychocultural schemes, is the basis of the System and that’s where we all fall.
b) In relation to the two positions mentioned above (anti-relativism and anti-reductionism)v it might seem that there is a discrepancy between the defense of a global vision of Reality, which situates each problem in relation to the circumstances on which it depends, and the criticism of the leftist tendency to relativize facts and ideas (make them depend on other “things” to detract from their value).
The identification and delimitation of the network of relations existing between the different concrete problems not only does not relativize them, but also gives ^n a more consistent, rigorous and truthful character to the model created about Reality.
Leftist relativism, however, starts from the denial of the existence of any fixed frame of reference, making it impossible to establish any kind of clear and stable interrelation between problems or situations. In the end, as a consequence of his own intrinsic inability to be consistent with himself, the relativist ends up consciously or unconsciously taking as points of reference irrational and absurd ideas (gods, dogmas of faith, myths,.. ♦ ) or his own “ego” (subjectivism: belief that Reality depends on the subject who looks at it, that is, confusing Reality with the models about it).
We see then how relativism, reduction! but and irrationalism are in reality inseparable, and how is there therefore no contradiction in denying all three at the same time.
c) The dogma of the alleged non-existence of absolute Truths is so deeply rooted, not only in leftism, but in the System of Domination and with it in the techno-industrial Society (and its predecessors), that many will perhaps find it difficult to understand the anti-relativist position defended in this text. To try to make it easier for them to break this psychocultural barrier, we provide below some other basic points to develop the critique of relativism and a non-relativistic way of thinking and acting:
-
This text was intended to be “dogma” for any idea or scheme if it is not a matter of “dogma” imposed (either by force and/or deception, or by the acritique assumption and lack of reflection). That is, a dogma is an idea (false or true) that is indisputable or undisputed.
The dogmas are maintained through the lack of debate and the inhibition of all criticism by whatever mechanisms, some of them commented on in this text.
But defending a truth or the search for it is done through reflection, debate, not imposition, and as long as there is no imposition, there is no “dogma”.
-
Despite what is commonly assumed, “dogma” is not synonymous with “Absolute Truth”. What gives absolute character to Truth is its correspondence with Reality and/or the natural laws that govern it, not its imposition.”
It is important not to confuse the absolute character of some ideas or things with the impossibility of discussing them. It is precisely in this confusion that relativism is found.
Reality is a fact, regardless of the idea that we may have of it. And we can argue about whether it is or not, or what it is, no one prevents us from doing so, but Reality is only one and its existence and value are independent of what we think or say about it in that mollento. Some ideas are faithfully close to Reality; they express the Truth. • Others are more or less distant from it, are inaccurate, incorrect or totally false,
But regardless of our freedom to discuss it (which we have never denied) and our evaluations of it, Reality exists. When Truth is confused with opinion, relativism arises
By the way, what does all this have to do with imposition? Whoever wants to continue denying the existence of absolute Reality can do so, but that in itself will not cause it to cease to exist, or change, or depend on his opinion.
-
Whoever imposes his ideas is because deep down he knows that he is wrong, or at least doubts the validity and rationality of them. He does not trust that he will be able to induce a rational conviction through debate, because he fears the risk that others will rationally dismantle his idea. That is why it imposes it, by force or by deception.
And on the contrary, those who know that what they defend is the Truth, do not need to impose it, it is enough for them to be allowed (which is not usually the case) to expose it, explain it and disseminate it rationally, because if it really is the Truth and these conditions are met (debate and rational expression) it will be assumed by everyone who is minimally intelligent, after discussing it freely and understanding it.
If, after a real critical debate, that Idea is rejected, then it was not Truth and Truth could emerge from that debate
Nowadays rational debate is very rare, because there is usually no real deep criticism, neither in society in general, nor among leftists in particular’
-
Relativism arises at first as a reaction to the imposition of dogmas, myths and religious and cultural prejudices, but despite its presumed original “rationality”, in most cases the only thing it serves for is to provide an alibi for psychological weakness, hypocrisy, permissiveness and incoherence, to justify incorrect attitudes behind a false disguise of “anti-dogmatism”. “Freedom”, “open-mindedness”1»..
From the uncritical assumption of religious dogmas or social prejudices, we move on to the defense of the dogma of “everything is relative”, falling again into what was originally intended to be avoided. Thus, relativists, in their reaction to the1,The “morality” of the System end up denying all kinds of morality (its relativistic “ethics”, in the rare cases in which it exists, is a fraud, since it arbitrarily imposes exceptions and does not define clear values that allow discrimination between right and wrong). From the imposed “order” we pass to disorder.
Relativism, even in the most philosophically and logically developed cases, implies its own degeneration, due to the lack of definition, uncertainty and lack of rigor of its postulates, which allow its easy misinterpretation and manipulation. In the end, “anything goes”. And when anything goes, usually the most assumed is the easiest and most comfortable for the “ego”, which is usually not exactly the best for everyone.
-
Every relativist lies or deceives himself, because he has relativistic dogmas such as: “Everything is relative” or “Absolute Truth does not exist”
But relativism is not only false because it has to be based on indisputable dogmas or “truths”, but also because such dogmas are contradictory to themselves.
Thus, relativistic phrases such as those indicated above, are categorical, clear and precise statements, which have a non-relative meaning. Paradoxically, the relativist who defends the absence of absolute Truths ends up enunciating sentences whose meaning can only be understood in an absolute way (“Everything”, “is”, “does not exist”...’)
Surely there is never absolute Truth? If there is any exception to this “rule,” then there is at least some absolute Truth. If there isn’t, the “rule” itself is’
Is everything relative? If all is, this phrase is an absolute Truth; if not 1c is, something, at least, is absolute.
These are “small details” that most relativistic 1-s ignore. Relativism is a brake imposed on thought. Its dogmas satisfy the conscience, which ceases to ask questions and advance in reasoning. Relativism is a very comfortable way of “thinking”.
When thought is really profound, rational, clear and powerful, it starts from concrete and definite points of reference, it always starts from Truths, from absolute principles (even if they are debatable), or else it is neither thought, nor Reason, nor anything like it; only mere mental mnlabarisms, sophisms.
In fact, relativistic Insta 1-s have their “fixed” frameworks of “thought” (relativistic dogmas themselves), although many never recognize it.
-
Relativism always entails remorphism. When there are no fixed ethical principles, everything ends up depending “on the lens through which one looks at it”, and greater evils end up being accepted, convincing themselves that they are “lesser evils” or even “great goods”. It all comes down to a matter of opinions and the “color of the glasses”. This is the basis of conformism and possibilism. Under a false appearance of “respect for Freedom” Domination ends up being maintained, painting it to one and 1-s others in a “nice color” or “acceptable”. In the end, Freedom and respect are takenzas something “relative”, just like Domination, When the boundaries are blurred and there are no fixed points, perspective disappears, everything is distorted, everything is confused. Evil ceases to be intrinsically evil, to be relatively bad or good, that is, “neutral”, usable, potentially “good”...
There would be many more things to say about one of the greatest intellectual subterfuges invented by the human mind, but the above serves to draw attention to the seriousness of the problem and to light the flame of true critical reflection in the reader.
Note 2
-
NOTE 2: When we talk about Power or Domination we are referring to the attempt, tendency or development (conscious or not) of:
-
Control or imposition from outside of patterns of thought and/or behavior on people and animals, preventing the autonomous development of their capacities and potentialities (Freedom).
-
Control of the functioning of Nature, preventing the development without interference of the self-regulation mechanisms of ecosystems or the laws that govern other natural systems (subatomic, cosmic, metabolic, psychological...).
Power can be exercised either by people or groups consciously or unconsciously (authority, submission and delegation of some to others), or by the mechanisms of functioning of a complex sociocultural system (dominating ideas or dynamics, deceptions and myths, tendency to absolute Power, hierarchical structures at different scales). •) that arises from the formation of a rec of interrelations between concrete acts and structures of Power, so that the location of Power as an entity is blurred. The “dominator” presages are nothing more than cogs in that great machineryn, “do- mlnad-s” in turn. Seen from another angle, many of the “dominated” (although not all) of them participate in this System of Power, more or less consciously, that is, they are in turn “dominators”.

a.- La fe.
b. La exaltación de los sentimientos.
a. — Lafe.
-
Guerra santa: Violencia “revolucionaria”.
-

«(Global i dad).
